- Wesper, the connected sleep company can collect clinical sleep data, provide meaningful insights, and connect you to a sleep specialist for solutions.
- The NY based startup, originally called Tatch has launched its service offering.
- The product consists of two patches to be worn on the abdomen for one night of sleep. From the connected patches an app collects data on: snoring, breathing quality, body positions, restfulness and sleep time.
- These insights are collected and translated into a report than can be reviewed with a sleep specialist virtually.
- The patches are wireless so it does not disrupt sleep, according to Wesper's site the results are highly similar to what someone would experience in a sleep lab minus the intrusive wires and sleeping in an unfamiliar bed.
- However, the patches can only be used 1 time and then returned to the startup, which seems like a bit of a challenge.
- The virtual sleep coach helps with lifestyle suggestions as well as more serious interventions for those who may be experiencing oxygen interruptions.
- Unlike Muse, Wesper's wearable is not able to offer a solution to a sleep problem.
- The service costs nearly $300 for two months worth of platform access which means 1 set of pads which can be replaced after sending them in and access to a virtual sleep consultant.
- What is near clear about this service is how frequently someone should test their sleep and for how long someone should stay part of the service.
- The wearable pads can only be used one time which means the data collected is only from one night of sleep, which may not tell the whole story of someone's sleeping patterns.
- The startup is still quite early, but the model needs to shift for scale and usage.
